San Marzano tomatoes come from the small town called San Marzano sul Sarno, near Naples, Italy. A P.D.O product that is cultivated on a volcanic ground, in the shadow of Vezuvio. A legend says that the first seed of this tomato came to the area in 1770 as a gift from the viceroy of Peru to the king of Naples. It adjusted perfectly to the fertile, volcanic ground and it is considered as the red gold of Vezuvio.
